Vyuṣṭi (Merit-Outcome) of Honoring Brāhmaṇas: Kṛṣṇa and Durvāsā

yad go-vṛṣabhāṅkasya prabhāvas taṁ ca me śṛṇu | rudrāṇyāḥ saṁśayo yad vai dampatyos taṁ ca me śṛṇu ||

Educational Q&A

The verse frames a didactic narrative meant to clarify divine greatness and remove doubt: Bhishma prepares to explain the majesty of Śiva (the bull-emblemed Lord) alongside what is traditionally heard about Narayana and Mahadeva, presenting their powers in a way that supports reverence and theological harmony.

Bhishma introduces a forthcoming story: he asks the listener to hear about Śiva’s prabhāva and about a doubt that arose in Pārvatī (Rudrāṇī), leading to a dialogue between Śiva and Pārvatī. This serves as the narrative gateway to a longer account.
