Adhyāya 142: Cyavana, the Devas’ Arrogance, and Vāyu’s Counsel on Protecting Brāhmaṇas
रामो दाशरथिश्वैव हुत्वा यज्ञेषु वै वसु । स गतो हाक्षयाँललोकान् यस्य लोके महद् यश:
rāmo dāśarathiś caiva hutvā yajñeṣu vai vasu | sa gato 'kṣayāṁl lokān yasya loke mahad yaśaḥ ||
Bhīṣma dit : Rāma, fils de Daśaratha, après avoir offert d’immenses richesses en oblations dans les sacrifices, établit une grande renommée en ce monde puis atteignit les royaumes impérissables.
भीष्म उवाच
Righteous leadership is shown through sacrificial duty and generous giving; fame rooted in dharma and public beneficence supports one’s passage to imperishable spiritual realms.
Bhishma cites Rama, son of Dasharatha, as a model king who performed sacrifices and offered abundant wealth, gained great renown in the world, and then attained the imperishable worlds.
