Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
शक्रस्य तु वच: श्रुत्वा नाहं प्रीतमनाभवम् । अब्रुवंश्व तदा हृष्टो देवराजमिदं वच:
śakrasya tu vacaḥ śrutvā nāhaṃ prītamanābhavam | abruvaṃś ca tadā hṛṣṭo devarājam idaṃ vacaḥ ||
En entendant les paroles de Śakra, mon cœur ne s’en trouva pas réjoui. Pourtant, affichant une joie extérieure, je m’adressai alors au roi des dieux en ces termes. Le passage souligne une tenue intérieure disciplinée : on peut garder une courtoisie posée devant la puissance, tout en demeurant intérieurement détaché et moralement vigilant quant à ce qu’il convient de demander ou d’accepter.
