Adhyāya 129 — त्रिविधधर्म-निर्णयः
Threefold Sources of Dharma; Pravṛtti–Nivṛtti and Ṛṣi-dharma
एवं सम्पूजितं रक्षो विप्रं तं प्रत्यपूजयत् । सखायमकरोच्चैनं संयोज्यार्थमुमोच ह
evaṃ sampūjitaṃ rakṣo vipraṃ taṃ pratyapūjayat | sakhāyam akaroc cainaṃ saṃyojyārtham umoca ha ||
Ainsi honoré, le rākṣasa rendit à son tour les égards dus à ce brāhmane. Il en fit son ami, le pourvut de richesses, puis le relâcha.
ब्राह्मण उवाच
Respect offered even to a feared or hostile being can evoke reciprocal respect; ethical conduct and courtesy can convert danger into friendship and lead to protection and benefit.
After the brāhmaṇa honors the rākṣasa, the rākṣasa responds by honoring the brāhmaṇa, accepting him as a friend, giving him wealth, and releasing him.
