Tapas-bala and karmic ascent across yoni

नाभागेनाम्बरीषेण गयेन च महात्मना । आयुनाथानरण्येन दिलीपरघुपूरुभि:

nābhāgenāmbarīṣeṇa gayena ca mahātmanā | āyunāthānaraṇyena dilīparaghupūrubhiḥ |

Bhīṣma dit : « Ô fils de Kuntī, des rois tels que Nābhāga, Ambarīṣa, le magnanime Gaya, Āyu, Anaraṇya, Dilīpa, Raghu et Pūru —qui observèrent le vœu de s’abstenir de viande au mois d’Āśvina durant les deux quinzaines (ou même une seule)— en vinrent, pour ainsi dire, à s’identifier au Soi de tous les êtres et obtinrent la connaissance des principes suprême et relatif (parāvara). »
