मांसभक्षण-दोषाः तथा अहिंसाया माहात्म्यम् | Faults of Meat-Consumption and the Supremacy of Ahiṃsā

अहिंसकानि भूतानि दण्डेन विनिहन्ति यः । आत्मन: सुखमन्विच्छन्‌ स प्रेत्य न सुखी भवेत्‌,जो मनुष्य अपने सुखकी इच्छा रखकर अहिंसक प्राणियोंको डंडेसे मारता है, वह परलोकमें सुखी नहीं होता है

ahiṃsakāni bhūtāni daṇḍena vinihanti yaḥ | ātmanaḥ sukham anvicchan sa pretya na sukhī bhavet ||

Yudhiṣṭhira dit : «Quiconque, en quête de son propre plaisir, frappe et abat d’un bâton des êtres vivants inoffensifs ne trouvera pas le bonheur après la mort. La violence intéressée contre l’innocent engendre la souffrance dans l’autre monde, non la félicité».
