मानसतीर्थ-शौचप्रशंसा | Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity
परस्त्रियं नाभिलषेद् वाचाथ मनसापि वा । अनृतं च न भाषेत मातापित्रो: कृतेपि वा
parastriyaṁ nābhilaṣed vā cātha manasāpi vā | anṛtaṁ ca na bhāṣeta mātāpitroḥ kṛte 'pi vā ||
Bhīṣma dit : On ne doit pas désirer la femme d’autrui—ni par la parole, ni même en son esprit. Et l’on ne doit pas proférer le mensonge, pas même pour le bien de sa mère et de son père. L’enseignement souligne la maîtrise intérieure et la vérité comme disciplines fondatrices du dharma, étendant la responsabilité morale de l’acte extérieur jusqu’à l’intention elle-même.
