मानसतीर्थ-शौचप्रशंसा | Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity

सदा द्वादशमासांस्तु नियतो नियताशन: । जितेन्द्रियो वीतरागो जुह्मानो जातवेदसम्‌

sadā dvādaśa-māsāṁs tu niyato niyatāśanaḥ | jitendriyo vītarāgo juhmāno jātavedasam ||

Bhīṣma dit : «Celui qui, durant douze mois entiers, vit dans la discipline—mesuré dans la nourriture, maître de lui et sans attachement—en versant chaque jour des oblations dans le feu sacré, Agni (Jātavedas), atteint des mondes élevés. Honoré par les Apsaras, cet homme vertueux gagne les royaumes des cohortes des Maruts et des huit Vasus. L’enseignement loue la maîtrise prolongée, la vie réglée et le devoir sacrificiel accompli avec fidélité comme voie vers une récompense spirituelle supérieure.»
