सप्त चान्यानि युक्तानि वाजिभि: समलंकृतै: । ब्रह्म! पितामह! फिर स्वर्णहारसे विभूषित हरे रंगवाले सत्रह करोड़ श्यामकर्ण घोड़े

Transliteration

sapta cānyāni yuktāni vājibhiḥ samalaṅkṛtaiḥ | brahman pitāmaha |

Translation

Bhagīratha dit : « Ô brahmane, ô Aïeul (Pitāmaha) ! J’ai encore donné sept autres (attelages/ensembles), attelés de chevaux magnifiquement parés. » Dans son contexte, cette parole souligne l’éthique du dāna (le don généreux) : l’offrande ne se fait pas à titre de simple geste, mais avec plénitude, beauté et convenance, afin que le don profite réellement au bénéficiaire et honore le devoir sacré.
