Āloka-dāna (Dīpa-dāna), Sumanas–Dhūpa–Dīpa Phala: Manu–Suvarṇa and Śukra–Bali Exempla

अमृतं मंगलं विद्धि महद्विषममंगलम्‌ । ओपषघध्यो ह्ामृतं सर्वा विषं तेजोडग्निसम्भवम्‌

amṛtaṁ maṅgalaṁ viddhi mahad viṣamam aṅgalam | oṣadhyo hy amṛtaṁ sarvā viṣaṁ tejo 'gnisambhavam ||

Śukra dit : «Sache que le nectar est de bon augure, et sache que le poison est d’un très grand et terrible mauvais augure. Toutes les herbes médicinales doivent être tenues pour du “nectar”, car elles donnent la vie et font le bien; tandis que le poison est une puissance ardente née du feu. Ainsi, ce qui soutient la vie et guérit est dit auspice; ce qui brûle, blesse et détruit est dit profondément néfaste.»
