Ādi Parva, Adhyāya 85: Āṣṭaka–Yayāti संवादः
Merit-Exhaustion, Rebirth, and the Critique of Pride
ययातिरुवाच पूरो प्रीतो5स्मि ते वत्स प्रीतश्चेदं ददामि ते । सर्वकामसमृद्धा ते प्रजा राज्ये भविष्यति,ययाति बोले--वत्स! पूरो! मैं तुमपर प्रसन्न हूँ और प्रसन्न होकर तुम्हें यह वर देता हूँ -- तुम्हारे राज्यमें सारी प्रजा समस्त कामनाओंसे सम्पन्न होगी”
yayātir uvāca pūro prīto 'smi te vatsa prītaś cedaṃ dadāmi te | sarvakāmasamṛddhā te prajā rājye bhaviṣyati ||
Yayāti dit : «Mon enfant Pūru, je suis satisfait de toi. Et, dans cette satisfaction, je t’accorde ce don : dans ton royaume, tes sujets seront comblés dans tous leurs désirs et vivront dans l’abondance.»
