ययाति–देवयानी संवादः

Yayāti–Devayānī Dialogue and Śukra’s Consent

वैशम्पायन उवाच स पीडितो देवयान्या महर्षि: समाह्दयत्‌ संरम्भाच्चैव काव्य: । असंशयं मामसुरा द्विषन्ति ये मे शिष्यानागतान्‌ सूदयन्ति,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! देवयानीके कहनेसे उसके दुःखसे दुःखी हुए महर्षि शुक्राचार्यने कचको पुकारा और दैत्योंके प्रति कुृपित होकर बोले--“इसमें तनिक भी संशय नहीं है कि असुरलोग मुझसे द्वेष करते हैं। तभी तो यहाँ आये हुए मेरे शिष्योंको ये लोग मार डालते हैं

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: sa pīḍito Devayānyā maharṣiḥ samāhvayat saṃrambhāc caiva Kāvyaḥ | asaṃśayaṃ mām asurā dviṣanti ye me śiṣyān āgatān sūdayanti ||

Vaiśampāyana dit : Poussé par Devayānī et meurtri par sa détresse, le grand sage Kāvya (Śukrācārya) appela Kaca avec colère. Il déclara : « Il n’y a aucun doute : les Asuras me vouent de la haine ; autrement, ils ne tueraient pas mes disciples venus ici. »
