वंशानुकीर्तनम् — Genealogical Recitation from Dakṣa to Yayāti and the Establishment of the Paurava Line
ऋचो बह्नचमुख्यैश्न प्रेयमाणा: पदक्रमैः । शुश्राव मनुजव्याप्रो विततेष्विह कर्मसु,श्रेष्ठ ऋग्वेदी ब्राह्मण पद और क्रमपूर्वक ऋचाओंका पाठ कर रहे थे। नरश्रेष्ठ दुष्यन्तने अनेक प्रकारके यज्ञसम्बन्धी कर्मोमें पढ़ी जाती हुई वैदिक ऋचाओंको सुना
ṛco bahnacamukhyaiś ca preyamāṇāḥ padakramaiḥ | śuśrāva manujavyāghro vitateṣv iha karmasu ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Les plus éminents brahmanes récitaient les ṛk védiques selon la règle—mot à mot (pada) et en enchaînement (krama). Duṣyanta, tigre parmi les hommes, entendit ces hymnes sacrés chantés au milieu des nombreux rites du sacrifice.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma through ritual correctness and social harmony: Brahmins preserve śruti by precise recitation (pada/krama), and the king upholds order by honoring and attentively hearing the Vedic rites, showing respect for sacred tradition and learned priests.
During an ongoing sacrifice with many ritual acts, leading Ṛgvedic Brahmins are chanting hymns in formal recitation styles; King Duṣyanta is present and hears the Vedic chanting as the rites proceed.
