Shloka 102

Ādi-parva Adhyāya 3 — Janamejaya’s Rite, Dhaumya’s Parīkṣā, and Uttanka’s Kuṇḍala Quest

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic etiquette: when approaching a ruler or elder, one should first come respectfully, offer blessings and courteous greetings, and only then present one’s purpose—showing humility and self-control.

Uttaṅka arrives at the residence of King Pauṣya, sees him seated, approaches him, greets him with blessings, and begins to speak—setting up a forthcoming request or interaction.
