Śārṅgaka-stuti to Agni during the Khāṇḍava Conflagration (शार्ङ्गक-स्तुतिः / अग्नि-स्तुतिः)
एवमस्त्विति त॑ वल्निब्रह्याणं प्रत्यभाषत । सम्भूतौ तौ विदित्वा तु नरनारायणावृषी,तब अगनि्निने ब्रह्माजीसे कहा--'“अच्छा, ऐसा ही सही।” तदनन्तर दीर्घकालके पश्चात् नर-नारायण ऋषियोंके अवतीर्ण होनेकी बात जानकर अग्निदेवको ब्रह्माजीकी बातका स्मरण हुआ। राजन! तब वे पुनः ब्रह्माजीके पास गये
evam astv iti taṁ vahni-brahmāṇaṁ pratyabhāṣata | sambhūtau tau viditvā tu nara-nārāyaṇāv ṛṣī |
Vaiśampāyana dit : « Qu’il en soit ainsi », répondit-il à Brahmā et à Agni. Longtemps après, lorsque Agni apprit que les sages Nara et Nārāyaṇa étaient nés (s’étaient incarnés), il se souvint des paroles jadis prononcées par Brahmā ; puis, ô roi, il se rendit de nouveau auprès de Brahmā.
