न तु केवलदैवेन प्रजा भावेन रेमिरे । यद् बभूव मनःकान्तं कर्मणा स चकार तत्
na tu kevaladaivena prajā bhāvena remire | yad babhūva manaḥkāntaṃ karmaṇā sa cakāra tat |
Vaiśampāyana dit : Le peuple ne se réjouissait pas seulement par le jeu du destin ou de la chance ; il se réjouissait du fond du cœur. Ce qui paraissait cher à leurs esprits, le roi l’accomplissait par ses actes. Ainsi, leur satisfaction ne venait pas seulement de sa protection royale, mais aussi de la confiance et de la dévotion qu’ils lui portaient.
