खाण्डवदाहे देवविमुखता तथा मयदानवाभयदानम् | Khāṇḍava Burning: Devas Withdraw; Maya Granted Protection
कथं हि शिरसो मध्ये कृतं तेन पं मम । मर्षयिष्यामि गोविन्द पादस्पर्शमिवोरग:,“गोविन्द! जैसे सर्प पैरकी ठोकर नहीं सह सकता, उसी प्रकार मैं उसने जो मेरे सिरपर पैर रख दिया है, उसे कैसे सह सकूँगा?
kathaṁ hi śiraso madhye kṛtaṁ tena paṁ mama | marṣayiṣyāmi govinda pādasparśam ivoragaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : «Govinda, comment pourrais-je supporter ce qu’il a fait — comme s’il avait posé son pied au milieu de ma tête ? De même qu’un serpent ne peut endurer le contact ou le coup d’un pied, ainsi je ne puis tolérer cet affront.»
