गान्धार्याश्व यथा पुत्रास्तथा कुन्तीसुता मम । यथा च मम ते रक्ष्या धृतराष्ट्र तथा तव,धृतराष्ट्र! जैसे गान्धारीके पुत्र मेरे अपने हैं, उसी प्रकार कुन्तीके पुत्र भी हैं; इसीलिये जैसे मुझे पाण्डवोंकी रक्षा करनी चाहिये, वैसे तुम्हें भी
bhīṣma uvāca | gāndhāryāś ca yathā putrās tathā kuntīsutā mama | yathā ca mama te rakṣyā dhṛtarāṣṭra tathā tava, dhṛtarāṣṭra ||
Bhīṣma dit : «De même que les fils de Gāndhārī sont pour moi comme mes propres fils, de même les fils de Kuntī sont les miens. Aussi, comme il est de mon devoir de protéger les Pāṇḍava, il en est de même du tien, ô Dhṛtarāṣṭra.»
