Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī
इसके बाद है अत्यन्त भयानक एवं दारुण मौसलपर्व। तत्पश्चात् महाप्रस्थानपर्व और स्वर्गारोहण-पर्व आते हैं
tataḥ paraṃ atyanta-bhayānakaṃ ca dāruṇaṃ ca mausala-parva bhavati | tataḥ paścāt mahāprasthāna-parva svargārohaṇa-parva ca āyātaḥ |
Vient ensuite le Mausala Parva, d’une terreur et d’une noirceur extrêmes, relatant la fin catastrophique née de la destruction fratricide. Puis arrivent le Mahāprasthāna Parva, décrivant le grand dernier voyage des Pāṇḍava, et le Svargārohaṇa Parva, narrant leur ascension au ciel.
राम उवाच
Even after victory and the restoration of order, worldly power and prosperity remain fragile; the epic culminates by showing the consequences of accumulated actions, the inevitability of decline, and the turn toward renunciation and final moral accounting under dharma.
This line functions as a parva-sequence marker: it points ahead to the Mausala Parva (a dreadful catastrophe), and then to the concluding parvas—Mahāprasthāna (the great departure) and Svargārohaṇa (the ascent to heaven)—signaling the epic’s movement from aftermath into final closure.
