Adhyāya 196: Droṇa’s Conciliatory Counsel and Karṇa’s Suspicion of Counsel (मन्त्र-नय-विवादः)
तां देवदेव: प्रीतात्मा पुनः प्राह शुभं वचः । पञ्चकृत्वस्त्वयोक्तो5हं पतिं देहीति वै पुनः:,तब देवाधिदेव महादेवजीने मन-ही-मन अत्यन्त संतुष्ट होकर उससे यह शुभ वचन कहा--'भद्रे! तुमने 'पति दीजिये” इस वाक्यको पाँच बार दुहराया है; इसलिये मैंने जो पहले कहा है, वैसा ही होगा, तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। किंतु तुम्हें दूसरे शरीरमें प्रवेश करनेपर यह सब होगा”
tāṃ devadevaḥ prītātmā punaḥ prāha śubhaṃ vacaḥ | pañcakṛtvas tvayokto 'haṃ patiṃ dehīti vai punaḥ ||
Le Dieu des dieux, le cœur comblé de joie, lui adressa de nouveau des paroles de bon augure : « Ô douce dame, tu as répété cinq fois la demande : “Accorde-moi un époux.” Aussi, ce que j’ai déclaré auparavant s’accomplira assurément pour toi — puisse-ce être pour ton bien. Mais cela ne se réalisera que lorsque tu entreras dans un autre corps. »
