Ādi Parva, Adhyāya 193 — Hastināpura Mantra: Duryodhana’s Proposals to Divide the Pāṇḍavas
अन्येषु शिल्पेषु च यान्यपि स्यु: सर्वाणि कृत्यान्यखिलेन तत्र । क्रीडानिमित्तान्यपि यानि तत्र सर्वाणि तत्रोपजहार राजा
anyeṣu śilpeṣu ca yāny api syuḥ sarvāṇi kṛtyāny akhilena tatra | krīḍā-nimittāny api yāni tatra sarvāṇi tatropajahāra rājā, rājan ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : «Ô roi, tout ce qui relève des divers métiers—toutes les tâches et tous les ustensiles, sans exception—y fut rassemblé. Et même les objets nécessaires aux jeux et aux divertissements y furent réunis par le roi.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights a ruler’s responsibility to ensure comprehensive provision—supporting both productive crafts and orderly recreation—reflecting competent governance and attention to social well-being.
Vaiśampāyana describes how, for a particular occasion, the king had all necessary implements for various crafts and also all items required for games gathered and kept ready at the venue.
