महत्यथापराह्ि तु घनै: सूर्य इवावृत: । ब्राह्मणै: प्राविशत् तत्र जिष्णुर्भार्गववेश्म तत्
mahaty athāparāhṇe tu ghanaiḥ sūrya ivāvṛtaḥ | brāhmaṇaiḥ prāviśat tatra jiṣṇur bhārgavaveśma tat ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Alors, dans la grande fin d’après-midi, lorsque le soleil semblait couvert de nuages épais, Jiṣṇu (Arjuna), entouré d’une troupe de brāhmaṇas, entra là, dans la maison de Bhārgava.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights prudent conduct under threat: even a powerful hero advances with restraint and social-ethical cover (a brāhmaṇa entourage), suggesting that strength should be guided by dharma, timing, and non-provocative strategy rather than impulsive force.
In the late afternoon, as the sky darkens with thick clouds, Arjuna—called Jiṣṇu—arrives at and enters Bhārgava’s dwelling, accompanied by brāhmaṇas, setting up the next action in the episode by marking his discreet approach and entry.
