उच्चैःश्रवसः वर्णविपणः तथा नागशापः
Uccaiḥśravas Color-Wager and the Nāga Curse
ऊचुश्न कूर्मराजानमकूपारे सुरासुरा: । अधिष्ठानं गिरेरस्य भवान् भवितुमहति,तब देवताओं और असुरोंने (समुद्रकी बात स्वीकार करके) समुद्रतलमें स्थित कच्छपराजसे कहा--“भगवन्! आप इस मन्दराचलके आधार बनिये'
ūcuḥ śrī-kūrma-rājānam akūpāre surāsurāḥ | adhiṣṭhānaṃ gireḥ asya bhavān bhavitum arhati ||
Alors les dieux et les asuras, l’entreprise ayant été convenue dans l’océan, s’adressèrent au royal Tortue dans les eaux sans rivage : « Ô Seigneur, tu es digne de devenir le socle qui soutiendra cette montagne. » Le vers souligne la détermination commune pour une grande œuvre et la reconnaissance éthique de l’aptitude (arhatā) à porter une responsabilité.
