बालो<पि यौवन प्राप्तो मानुषेषु विशाम्पते । सवस्त्रिषु परं वीर: प्रकर्षमगमद् बली,राजन्! अवस्थामें बालक होनेपर भी वह मनुष्योंमें युवक-सा प्रतीत होता था। उस बलवान वीरने सम्पूर्ण अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंमें बड़ी निपुणता प्राप्त की थी
bālo ’pi yauvana-prāpto mānuṣeṣu viśāmpate | sarvāstreṣu paraṃ vīraḥ prakarṣam agamad balī rājān ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : « Bien qu’il fût encore un enfant, ô seigneur des peuples, parmi les hommes il paraissait déjà parvenu à la jeunesse. Ce héros puissant, ô roi, atteignit une excellence remarquable dans toutes les armes et toutes les disciplines du combat. »
