Āstravidyā-Pradarśana: The Kuru Princes’ Public Demonstration of Arms (आस्त्रविद्या-प्रदर्शनम्)
सिंहदर्पा महेष्वासा: सिंहविक्रान्तगामिन: । सिंहग्रीवा मनुष्येन्द्रा ववृधुर्देवविक्रमा:,उनका अभिमान सिंहके समान था, वे बड़े-बड़े धनुष धारण करते थे। उनकी चाल- ढाल भी सिंहके ही समान थी। देवताओंके समान पराक्रमी तथा सिंहकी-सी गर्दनवाले वे नरश्रेष्ठ बढ़ने लगे। उस पुण्यमय हिमालयके शिखरपर पलते और पुष्ट होते हुए वे पाण्डुपुत्र वहाँ एकत्र होनेवाले महर्षियोंको आश्वर्यचकित कर देते थे
siṁhadarpā maheṣvāsāḥ siṁhavikrāntagāminaḥ | siṁhagrīvā manuṣyendrā vavṛdhur devavikramāḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Fiers comme des lions, portant de puissants arcs et marchant d’une allure léonine, ces meilleurs des hommes—au cou de lion et à la vaillance pareille à celle des dieux—ne cessèrent de croître en force et en stature. Nourris et florissants sur les cimes sacrées de l’Himālaya, les fils de Pāṇḍu y émerveillèrent les grands ṛṣi rassemblés en ce lieu saint.
