अमावास्यां तु सहिता ऋषय: संशितव्रता: । ब्रह्माणं द्रष्टकामास्ते सम्प्रतस्थुर्महर्षय:
amāvāsyāṃ tu sahitā ṛṣayaḥ saṃśitavratāḥ | brahmāṇaṃ draṣṭukāmās te sampratasthur maharṣayaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : «Le jour de la nouvelle lune, de nombreux sages, affermis par des vœux rigoureux, se rassemblèrent. Désireux de voir Brahmā, ces grands rishi se mirent en route vers Brahmaloka.»
