Pāṇḍu’s Funeral Rites and Public Mourning
This colophon underscores the epic’s concern with lineage and accountability: naming and enumerating Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons frames later ethical and political outcomes, reminding readers that actions arise within inherited duties, rivalries, and responsibilities.
Vaiśampāyana signals the formal completion of a chapter in the Sambhava-parvan that focused on describing the names (and thereby the identity and scope) of Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons, closing that unit of narration before the story proceeds.
