स हि राज्यथुरं गुर्वीमुद्रक्ष्यति कुलस्य न: । 'सुश्रोणि! इस नष्ट होते हुए भरतवंशका पुनः उद्धार करो। तुम देवराज इन्द्रके समान एक तेजस्वी पुत्रको जन्म दो। वही हमारे कुलके इस महान् राज्यभारको वहन करेगा”
sa hi rājyadhuraṃ gurvīm udvakṣyati kulasya naḥ | suśroṇi, asmin naṣṭa hote hue bharatavaṃśasya punaḥ uddhāraṃ kuru | tvaṃ devarāja-indra-samānaṃ ekaṃ tejasvinaṃ putraṃ janaya | sa eva asmākaṃ kulasya etat mahān rājyabhāraṃ vahaniṣyati |
Vaiśaṃpāyana dit : «Lui seul relèvera le lourd joug de la royauté pour notre lignée. Ô dame aux hanches gracieuses, restaure de nouveau cette race des Bharata qui s’en va vers la ruine. Donne naissance à un fils éclatant, tel Indra, roi des dieux. Il portera pour notre famille le grand fardeau de la souveraineté.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The passage frames kingship as a grave moral burden (rājyadhurā) and presents dynastic continuity as a duty: a capable, radiant heir is sought not for personal desire but to uphold the family’s responsibility to protect and govern according to dharma.
Vaiśaṃpāyana reports an appeal to a noblewoman addressed as “Suśroṇī,” urging her to revive the declining Bharata lineage by giving birth to a powerful son, likened to Indra, who can shoulder the heavy responsibilities of rule for the family.
