FAQs

This verse prescribes honoring deities stationed in the directional corners—beginning with Īśāna—to establish ritual protection, purity, and correctness of the rite.

By invoking Āpaḥ (waters) and Sāvitrī along with Rudra and Jaya, the verse emphasizes sanctification and safeguarding of the ritual space—an essential step in many Garuda Purana procedures connected with śuddhi (purification).

Before any solemn rite (prayer, śrāddha, or purification), consciously sanctify the space by honoring directions and invoking purity (water) and mantra-power (Sāvitrī/Gāyatrī), cultivating discipline and reverence.
