Visarpa Nidāna-Lakṣaṇa
Causes, Types, and Prognosis of Rapidly Spreading Eruptive Disorders

Lord Vishnu (teaching Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Prognostic discrimination: symptom clusters and doṣa-origin determine sādhyatā (treatability).
Vedantic Theme: Viveka and niyati: outcomes depend on causes/conditions; wise action aligns with discerned reality.
Application: Assess blisters, swelling, fever, pain, burning, and blood discoloration; classify by doṣa involvement; treat early especially in single- or dual-doṣa cases without complications.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.163.24: criteria for incurability (sarvottha, marma involvement, tissue destruction, corpse-odor); Garuda Purana 1.163.22: doṣa causation leading into prognosis
It defines prognosis: single-doṣa vīsarpa is generally curable, while dual-doṣa cases depend on whether complications (upadrava) have developed.
It does not address afterlife doctrine; it preserves practical Ayurvedic knowledge within the Garuda Purana’s instruction dialogue.
Recognize red flags—spreading blisters with fever and burning—and seek timely care before complications arise, aligning with the verse’s emphasis on early, uncomplicated stages.
