Diti’s Untimely Desire and the Birth-Cause of the Asura Line
Prelude to Hiranyākṣa–Varāha
Kaśyapa has already told his wife Diti to wait for a while, and now he warns her that failure to consider the particular time will result in punishment from the ghosts and evil spirits who move during this time, along with their master, Lord Rudra.
This verse describes twilight as a particularly dreadful hour when unsettling beings and Lord Śiva’s ghostly attendants are said to roam, implying that wise persons avoid spiritually and morally risky acts at such times.
In this chapter, Diti presses for union at an improper time; Kardama warns her that the hour is inauspicious and spiritually dangerous, associated with roaming bhūtas and Śiva’s attendants.
Choose wholesome timing and a sattvic mindset for major decisions and intimate acts—avoid acting under agitation, fear, or impulse, especially at times you personally associate with weakness or distraction.
