परिक्षीणेषु कुरुषु द्रौणेर्ब्रह्मास्त्रतेजसा । त्वं च कृष्णानुभावेन सजीवो मोचितोऽन्तकात् ॥ ३४ ॥
parikṣīṇeṣu kuruṣu drauṇer brahmāstra-tejasā tvaṁ ca kṛṣṇānubhāvena sajīvo mocito ’ntakāt
Lorsque la lignée des Kurus fut anéantie, toi aussi allais périr sous l’éclat du brahmāstra lancé par le fils de Droṇa; mais par la puissance et la miséricorde de Śrī Kṛṣṇa, tu fus arraché à la mort et maintenu en vie.
This verse states that when Aśvatthāmā’s brahmāstra nearly finished the Kurus, Parīkṣit was brought back to life and freed from death specifically by Kṛṣṇa’s divine power (kṛṣṇānubhāva).
Śukadeva highlights Parīkṣit’s extraordinary survival to show that the continuation of the Kuru line and Parīkṣit’s life were preserved by Kṛṣṇa’s direct intervention, establishing Kṛṣṇa as the ultimate protector.
Even when circumstances feel life-threatening or hopeless, remembrance of Kṛṣṇa and reliance on His shelter (bhakti) is presented as the highest protection and source of renewal.
