Srimad Bhagavatam — Navama Skandha, Shloka 14

Yayāti, Devayānī, Śarmiṣṭhā, and the Exchange of Youth: The Unsatisfied Nature of Desire

FAQs

This verse credits the brāhmaṇas—through tapasya—with manifesting and sustaining the ‘light’ of Vedic wisdom and showing the auspicious path of dharma.

Here austerity is presented as the spiritual power by which divine order and Vedic illumination are established and preserved in the world.

Support and practice truthful study, disciplined living, and teaching that guides others toward virtue—so knowledge becomes lived guidance, not mere information.
