Nimi’s Disembodied Liberation and the Rise of the Mithilā (Videha) Dynasty
The verse lists the succession: Ariṣṭanemi → Śrutāyu → Supārśvaka → Citraratha → Kṣemādhi, who is described as the ruler of Mithilā.
Śukadeva outlines dynastic successions to preserve sacred history (vaṁśānucarita) and to show how dharma and devotion flow through time, culminating in the Lord’s pastimes and teachings.
It reminds us that worldly positions and fame pass through generations; lasting value comes from living dharmically and using one’s role—like a king or householder—in service to the Supreme.
