Pradyumna’s Abduction, Mahā-māyā, and the Slaying of Śambara
This verse shows that when one crosses appropriate roles and sentiments (like the maternal mood), desire can distort understanding and lead to improper behavior; dharma requires right consciousness and right relationship.
Māyāvatī, who had raised him, began expressing romantic attraction; Pradyumna corrected her, reminding her that she was acting beyond the motherly role, even though she was actually Rati in a previous identity.
Maintain clear boundaries and integrity in relationships; when emotions become confusing, return to dharma—seek clarity, self-control, and guidance rather than acting under impulse.
