Application: Confirm presence/authorization (sānnidhya) after satisfying the relevant devatā-tattvas before proceeding to offerings.

Related Themes: Agni Purana 96 (Pūjā-vidhi: pratiṣṭhā/homa sequence)
It prescribes a sequence in consecration/ritual worship: first tarpaṇa (satisfying offerings) to the presiding tattva-deity and related icon-lords/retinue, then performing homa specifically in a state recognized as sānnidhya (deity’s invoked presence), including participation by the mūrtipāḥ (icon-attendants/ritual caretakers).
It integrates metaphysical taxonomy (tattva, tattveśvara) with applied temple-ritual operations (tarpaṇa, sānnidhya, homa, mūrtipāḥ), showing how the text links doctrine and practical liturgy—one hallmark of the Agni Purāṇa’s wide-ranging, procedural knowledge.
By propitiating the presiding principles and their retinue before oblations, the rite is framed as orderly and complete, aiming to secure stable divine presence (sānnidhya), remove ritual deficiencies, and generate merit through properly authorized offerings.
