It introduces Śaiva pūjā-vidhi and iconometric guidance (liṅga-māna), specifically noting non-stone ritual liṅgas made from salt and ghee, with the ghee-made liṅga described as buddhi-vardhana (promoting clarity/intelligence).
By shifting from definition (liṅga-lakṣaṇa) to applied ritual-technology—measurements, construction materials, and their stated effects—this verse exemplifies the Agni Purāṇa’s practical cataloging of worship methods alongside doctrinal topics.
It frames liṅga-making and worship as a results-oriented discipline: choosing prescribed materials (e.g., ghṛta-ja) is presented as yielding specific spiritual-mental benefits, implying merit through correct ritual form and intention.
