Chapter 101 — प्रासादप्रतिष्ठा (Prāsāda-pratiṣṭhā): Consecration and Installation of the Temple

Īśvara (the Lord, speaking as the authoritative divine instructor within the Agni Purana’s dialogue frame)

Concept: A temple becomes a living sacred presence (caitanya) through consecratory yoga/ritual, not merely through construction.
Application: During consecration, prioritize correct vāstu alignment and the specified locus; treat placement as the conduit for ‘caitanya’ infusion.

Related Themes: Agni Purana 100 (Dvāra-pratiṣṭhā); Agni Purana 101 (Prāsāda-pratiṣṭhā procedures continuing beyond this opening)
It introduces prāsāda-pratiṣṭhā (temple consecration) and specifies a key architectural-ritual locus: the placement point at the end of the śukanāśā, centered with reference to the eastern vedi (altar-platform).
By shifting from gateway consecration (dvāra-pratiṣṭhā) to full temple installation (prāsāda-pratiṣṭhā), it demonstrates the Purāṇa’s coverage of applied Vāstu-śāstra—practical sacred architecture alongside theology and ritual technique.
The verse frames temple establishment as more than construction: the structure is ‘vivified’ (caitanya) through divine yogic empowerment, implying sanctification that yields religious merit and a purified, efficacious space for worship.
