FAQs

Sanatkumāra is a celebrated teacher figure (one of Brahmā’s mind-born sons) associated with jñāna and instruction. His request for ‘vyākhyā’ signals that the text is about to move from narrative phrasing into a more formal doctrinal explanation.

It refers to the conceptual/legal-spiritual framework by which someone becomes an ‘heir’—i.e., the conditions and meaning of rightful succession, whether of lineage, ritual authority, or transmission of yoga/knowledge.

Purāṇas often embed tīrtha-mahātmya within authoritative dialogues. Establishing who is qualified to speak and inherit the teaching legitimizes subsequent descriptions of sacred places, vows, and rites—even when the immediate verse is purely dialogic.
