Katharudra
कुण्डिकां चमसं शिक्यं त्रिविष्टमुपानहौ । शीतोपघातिनीं कन्थां कौपीनाच्छादनं तथा ॥ पवित्रं ज्ञानशाटीं च उत्तरासङ्गमेव च । यज्ञोपवीतं वेदांश्च सर्वं तद्वर्जयेद्यतिः ॥ स्नानं पानं तथा शौचमद्भिः पूताभिराचरेत् । नदीपुलिनशायी स्याद्देवागारेषु वा स्वपेत् ॥ नात्यर्थं सुखदुःखाभ्यां शरीरमुपतापयेत् । स्तूयमानो न तुष्येत निन्दितो न शपेत्परान् ॥

kuṇḍikāṃ camasaṃ śikyaṃ trivīṣṭam upānahau | śītopaghātinīṃ kanthāṃ kaupīnācchādanaṃ tathā || pavitraṃ jñānaśāṭīṃ ca uttarāsaṅgam eva ca | yajñopavītaṃ vedāṃś ca sarvaṃ tad varjayet yatiḥ || snānaṃ pānaṃ tathā śaucam adbhiḥ pūtābhir ācaret | nadīpulinaśāyī syād devāgāreṣu vā svapet || nātyarthaṃ sukhaduḥkhābhyāṃ śarīram upatāpayet | stūyamāno na tuṣyet nindito na śapet parān ||
El renunciante debe abandonar la vasija de agua, el cuenco de limosna, la correa de transporte, el báculo triple, el calzado, el manto contra el frío y el paño que cubre el taparrabo; asimismo el purificador, la “tela del conocimiento” y la prenda superior; también el cordón sagrado e incluso los Vedas: todo eso ha de renunciar. El baño, la bebida y la purificación los realizará con agua pura. Reposará en el arenal de la ribera del río, o dormirá en los templos. No debe mortificar en exceso el cuerpo por placer o dolor. Al ser alabado no se complazca; al ser censurado no maldiga a los demás.
The renunciant should abandon the water-pot, the begging-bowl, the carrying-sling, the triple staff, footwear, the cold-protecting cloak, and the loincloth-covering; likewise the purifier, the ‘knowledge-cloth’, and the upper garment; also the sacred thread and even the Vedas—he should renounce all that. Bathing, drinking, and purification he should perform with water that is pure. He should lie on the sandbank of a river, or sleep in temples. He should not excessively torment the body by pleasure and pain. When praised he should not be delighted; when blamed he should not curse others.
