Tattva Level: pasha
It teaches discernment in spiritual life: actions and forms of worship yield results in graded levels—higher, middling, and sinful—so the seeker should choose what elevates consciousness toward Shiva rather than what diminishes it.
Linga/Saguna-Shiva worship is not merely external; its fruit depends on the quality of intention and correctness of practice. This verse frames worship outcomes as hierarchical, encouraging pure devotion and right observance rather than careless or harmful conduct that turns practice into demerit.
Adopt the higher-grade approach: perform Shiva worship with purity, restraint, and sincere bhakti—such as steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and disciplined observances—avoiding actions that create agha (sin) and degrade the spiritual result.
