Nabhaga-Upākhyāna: The Account of Nabhaga and Shiva-Jñāna
Lord Shiva

It teaches that steadfast vrata (disciplined sacred observance) combined with devotion draws Shiva’s grace, and that His grace culminates in jñāna—liberating knowledge of the eternal Reality leading toward moksha.
In Shaiva practice, Saguna worship (such as Linga-upasana with mantra and vrata) purifies the devotee and invites Shiva’s compassion; that grace then ripens into realization of Brahman—showing how form-based worship can lead to formless truth.
The verse highlights vrata as the key practice—regular disciplined worship with mantra-japa (especially Panchakshara), along with traditional Shaiva observances like bhasma (tripundra) and rudraksha, undertaken with sincerity to receive Shiva’s jnana-gift.
