Yatinātha-līlā: Śiva’s Test of the Bhilla Devotees at Arbuda Mountain
Lord Shiva (Hara)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It highlights Śiva’s anugraha (grace): when a devotee is blameless and steady in right conduct, the Lord becomes pleased and grants boons without demanding any “payment,” showing compassion beyond transactional religion.
In Saguna worship—especially Linga-pūjā—devotion and purity of life are emphasized over mere offerings. The verse reflects that the Linga is approached with inner cleanliness and dharmic conduct, which draws Śiva’s personal favor.
A practical takeaway is to combine disciplined conduct (ācāra) with bhakti—such as daily Linga worship, japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and living with non-injury and purity—so that grace, rather than bargaining, becomes the center of practice.
