FAQs

It teaches that disciplined outer conduct (ācāra)—such as careful handling of darbha and the worship-seat—supports inner purity and steadiness, making the mind fit for devotion to Pati (Shiva) and for meditative absorption.

Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana emphasizes orderly ritual steps; correcting mistakes around the āsana and ritual materials preserves the sanctity of the puja and maintains the devotee’s focused bhakti toward Saguna Shiva as the accessible form of the Supreme.

It suggests a corrective purification when darbha is mishandled—performed by a prescribed ‘sixfold rising’ from the āsana—reinforcing mindful posture, cleanliness, and attentiveness during Shiva puja and japa.
