Agni’s Testimony and Sītā’s Revalidation
नविधूयाथचितांतांतुवैदेहींहव्यवाहनः ।उत्तस्थौमूर्तिमानाशुगृहीत्वाजनकात्मजाम् ।।।।
na vidhūyātha citāṁ tāṁ tu vaidehīṁ havyavāhanaḥ |
uttasthau mūrtimān āśu gṛhītvā janakātmajām ||
Entonces el dios del Fuego, sin dispersar aquella pira funeraria, se alzó presto en forma corpórea, tomando en sus manos a Vaidehī, la hija de Janaka.
Then the supremely righteous Rama, who is good at speaking rejoiced at heart, his eyes filled with tears, thought for a moment.
Dharma is upheld through a public, divine attestation: Agni becomes the witness who confirms truth and purity, ensuring justice is not merely private belief but socially validated satya.
Sītā has entered the fire to demonstrate her purity; Agni himself emerges holding her, indicating she is unharmed and vindicated.
Sītā’s steadfast purity and truthfulness are foregrounded, validated by a cosmic witness rather than human opinion.
