The Fierce Chariot-Duel of Rama and Ravana
रामस्यतुरगान्दीप्तै: शरैर्विव्याथरावणः ।तेदिव्याहरयस्तत्रनास्खलन्नापिबभ्रमुः ।।6.109.15।।बभूवुःस्वस्थहृदयाःपद्मनालैरिवाहताः ।
rāmasya turagān dīptaiḥ śarair vivyātha rāvaṇaḥ |
te divyā harayas tatra nāskhalan nāpi babhramuḥ ||6.109.15||
babhūvuḥ svastha-hṛdayāḥ padma-nālair ivāhatāḥ |
Rāvaṇa hirió con flechas ardientes a los caballos de Rāma; pero aquellos corceles espléndidos no tropezaron ni vacilaron allí: serenos de corazón, como si sólo los hubieran tocado tallos de loto.
Ravana perceived that the horses were just unperturbed by his arrows, became enraged and showered arrows excessively.
Steadfastness under attack: dharmic allies remain composed and do not collapse in fear when facing harm.
Rāvaṇa attacks Rāma’s chariot-horses, but they remain miraculously unperturbed.
Courage and steadiness (dhairya)—symbolically reflected even in Rāma’s team and equipment aligned with dharma.
