Sita’s Recognition and Reassurance by the Envoy
diṣṭyā ca kuśalī rāmo dharmātmā satya-saṅgaraḥ |
lakṣmaṇaś ca mahā-tejāḥ sumitrānanda-vardhanaḥ ||
"To my luck, righteous Rama who abides in truth and glorious Lakshmana who enhances the joy of Sumitra are keepng well.
Dharma is sustained through concern for others’ welfare and steadfastness in truth; Sītā’s first questions are about their well-being, not her own comfort.
Having begun to accept Hanumān’s approach, Sītā asks after Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa, identifying them through their defining virtues and relationships.
Sītā’s compassion and fidelity: even in captivity she centers the well-being and dhārmika character of Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa.
