Sita’s Lament and Prophecy of Lanka’s Ruin
न हि मे जीवितेनार्थो नैवार्थेर्न च भूषणैः।वसन्त्या राक्षसीमध्ये विना रामं महारथम्।।।।
na hi me jīvitena artho naivārthair na ca bhūṣaṇaiḥ | vasantyā rākṣasīmadhye vinā rāmaṃ mahāratham ||
Sin Rāma, el gran guerrero del carro, ¿qué valor tiene para mí la vida, viviendo entre rākṣasīs? No necesito riquezas ni ornamentos.
"In the absence of the great charioteer Rama, of what use is my living in the midst of ogresses? I need no wealth, no ornaments.
It asserts a dharmic hierarchy of values: fidelity and righteous relationship outweigh material prosperity; wealth without dharma and rightful companionship is meaningless.
Sītā, held among hostile rākṣasīs, rejects the idea that comfort, riches, or adornment can compensate for separation from Rāma.
Sītā’s steadfastness and non-attachment to material inducements, grounded in truthfulness and marital duty.
