Vali’s Funeral Rites and the Consolation of the Bereaved
स्वधर्मस्य च संयोगाज्जितस्तेन महात्मना।स्वर्गः परिगृहीतश्च प्राणानपरिरक्षता4.25.10।।
sva-dharmasya ca saṃyogāj jitas tena mahātmanā |
svargaḥ parigṛhītaś ca prāṇān aparirakṣatā || 4.25.10 ||
Por su firme unión con su propio dharma, aquella gran alma conquistó el cielo; sin aferrarse a la vida, ha alcanzado la morada celestial.
'Great Vali has earned a place in heaven by virtue of his own dharma and not caring for his own life .He has got the heavenly position he earned.
One’s sva-dharma (rightful duty) is a guiding standard; living and even dying without selfish attachment to life is portrayed as spiritually elevating.
Rāma consoles the grieving Vānara family by reframing Vāli’s death as the fruition of his dharma and valor, leading to heavenly attainment.
Vāli’s vīrya (valor) and dharma-niṣṭhā (commitment to duty), presented as worthy of honor despite the tragedy.
