पञ्चदशः सर्गः — देवकृत-प्रार्थना, रावणवधोपायः, विष्णोः मानुषावतारनियोजनम्
Sarga 15: The Devas’ Petition, the Means to Slay Ravana, and Vishnu’s Commission to Incarnate as Man
त्वं गति: परमा देव सर्वेषां न: परन्तप:।वधाय देवशत्रूणां नृणां लोके मन: कुरु।।1.15.24।।
tvaṃ gatiḥ paramā deva sarveṣāṃ naḥ parantapaḥ |
vadhāya devaśatrūṇāṃ nṛṇāṃ loke manaḥ kuru ||1.15.24||
Oh Dios, atormentador de los enemigos, tú eres el refugio supremo para todos nosotros; decide encarnar en el mundo de los hombres para la destrucción de los enemigos de los dioses.
O tormentor of enemies, O Visnu, you are the supreme, refuge for all of us. Resolve to be born in the world of men for the destruction of enemies of the gods (rakshasas)".
Dharma is the commitment to protect the righteous by entering the arena where harm occurs; responsibility includes willingness to act, not merely to rule from afar.
The gods conclude their petition by asking Viṣṇu to resolve upon a human incarnation to eliminate the rākṣasa threat.
Protective resolve and compassion—being the ‘supreme refuge’ entails taking on burden for the sake of truth and order.
